چکیده

Children are directly exposed to bisphenol A (BPA) and other putative environmental obesogens through both diet and household products. The purpose of this study was to investigate sexand genetic-dependent effects of BPA consumption on traits relevant to obesity and Type 2 diabetes in juveniles, using mice as models. Two strains of mice (C57BL/6J and DBA/2J) were chosen to represent distinct genetic backgrounds that differ in susceptibility to obesity and insulin resistance. Male and female mice of each strain consumed BPA at three doses in drinking water from four to eleven weeks of age. Male but not female mice of each strain consuming BPA were significantly fatter than controls. BPA induced corresponding changes in adipose tissue gene expression and metabolite abundance that indicate effects on adipogenesis and energy utilization. BPA consumption also altered the synthesis of adipokines, circulating factors that modulate insulin sensitivity and atherogenesis, in C57BL/6J but not DBA/2J males. Conversely, effects of BPA on plasma insulin were only observed in female mice, and with opposite effects in the two strains. These results suggest that dietary BPA may exacerbate childhood obesity and its consequences, and that sex and genetic background are important determinants of the physiological impact of BPA. O-1: Effects of Recipient Mouse Strain, Sex and Gonadal Status on the Outcome of TestisTissue Xenografting

Background: The aim of the present study was to examine factors that may affect the outcome of testis tissue xenografting. Recipient factors were examined by grafting small fragments of testis tissue from newborn piglets under the back skin of immunodeficient mice of different strains [severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) vs. nude), sex (male vs. female) and gonadal status (intact vs. gonade...

Effects of bisphenol-S low concentrations on oxidative stress status and in vitro fertilization potential in mature female mice

Bisphenol-S (BPS) is a new bisphenol-A substitute widely used in many plastic products. Bisphenol-A as a main member of bisphenol family has been known as an endocrine system disrupter chemical compound. Like other members of bisphenol family, there is public health concern about the toxic effects of BPS on reproductive system, thus, we examined BPS effects on in vitro fertilization (I...

Epigenetic effects of in utero bisphenol A administration: Diabetogenic and atherogenic changes in mice offspring

Objective(s): Bisphenol A (BPA) that is a monomer of plastic products may possibly interfere with epigenetics and be involved in onset and progression of several diseases. This study was aimed to detect the epigenetic effects of in utero BPA exposure in mice offspring.Materials and Methods: All experiments were performed according to the...

Vitellogenin Gene Expression and Sex Steroid Levels as Biomarkers in Yellowfin Seabream (Acanthopagrus latus) Exposed to Bisphenol-A

Background: The egg yolk precursor protein vitellogenin (VTG) has proven to be a useful biomarker, used to identify organisms exposed to estrogenic compounds. Methods: We investigated variations in the VTG gene expression pattern and plasma sex steroid hormones concentrations in the yellowfin Seabream, Acanthopagrus latus, (A. latus) by various doses of bisphenol-A (BPA) exposure for 7 and 14 ...

Objective(s): One of the major endocrine-disrupting chemicals, Bisphenol-S (BPS) has replaced bisphenol-A due to public health anxiety. The present study evaluated low dosage BPS effect on female reproductive potential, hormonal disruption, and gene expression pathways of blastocyst-derived cells.Materials and Methods: NMRI female mice (...
